JOB TITLE: Environmental Services Technician

DEPARTMENT: Environmental Services (EVS)

RESPSONSIBLE TO: Maintenance Supervisor

SUPERVISES: N/A

POSITION: Full-time with weekend rotation.

SUMMARY
The Environmental Services Technician is responsible for providing a clean, orderly, attractive and safe environment for patients, visitors and employees of Heritage of Webster County.

This position complies with department and organization-wide policies, long-term care facility requirements, safety, and infection control, and all Federal and State of Nebraska regulations related to the performance of Heritage of Webster County operations and requirements of the compliance program.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Cleans assigned areas by approved methods to prevent spread of disease.
• Prepares and follows daily assignment schedule to include routine duties as well as special cleaning as assigned or as circumstances prevail.
• Inspects facility premises while performing duties.
• Reports repairs and maintenance needs to hospital maintenance department.
• Communicates with staff for unscheduled cleaning of rooms.
• Uses correct formula when mixing chemicals.
• Wears proper Personal Protective Equipment while cleaning and using chemicals.
• Ensures rooms are free of trash.
• Vacuums appropriate areas daily and as needed.
• Mops daily and as needed.
• Helps other departments with cleaning as needed.
• Ensures safety signs and caution cones are used when appropriate.
• Performs additional cleaning – windows, walls, baseboards, pictures, bases of chairs, air vents, if regular tasks are completed.
• Sorts soiled linens following proper procedure.
• Washes and dries laundry at appropriate cycles and temperatures.
• Performs correct folds in individual categories of clean linen.
• Distributes and stores linen following proper procedure.
• Performs all other duties as assigned by Maintenance Supervisor or Administrator.
• Works well and communicates with other environmental services staff, if applicable.
• Possesses strong organizational skills and ability to work independently.
• Demonstrates strong work ethic and dependability, maintaining consistent and predictable schedule.
• Communicates absences with as much notice as possible.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous work experience within long-term care/healthcare setting preferred but not required.

QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed here are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, push, pull, stand; use hands and fingers and be able to reach with hands and arms. The employee will be standing for long periods of time. The employee will be required to lift, push, and move up to 10 pounds on a regular basis and 25-50 pounds on an occasional basis. The employee may have to be on knees for extended amount of time to clean chair bases, baseboards, etc. Specific vision abilities required include close, distance and color vision with the ability to focus.
